H.T. Wiley Nature Center Trail

Info: These trails are located directly behind H.T. Wiley Middle School in Watertown, the school and trail are located at the end of a dead end street to the right of the Watertown High School off Washington Street.

The trail can be used any season. Motorized vehicles are prohibited.

The trail entrance seems to be unmarked, park beside the school and look for the pavilion – the trail starts to the right of it.

During wet times of the year there may be wet/muddy sections.

There is a pavilion and picnic table area near the start and a few bits of older fitness equipment, and various birdhouses along a trail. There are also a couple ponds and a few distance markers on some of the sections.  Some of the trail is quite wide and some is narrower, some is well-cleared while other areas have had little maintenance.

One trail branch takes you up the hill where you can get a great view of Watertown.

Trail Review: debbie – ” Today a friend & I walked the area , it was very enjoyable with lots of beautiful trees & I really enjoyed that is was not 1 long flat trail.”

Trail Map:
Not all section are shown, and some may not be in use any longer or are somewhat overgrown.

For More Information: Watertown High School – note that the trail map shown here seems to be an old one, and the trail is somewhat different now.  Also note that the map image on the school’s website is strangely rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise so it can be confusing as North is somewhat to the right instead of upward.
