Anthony (Tony) C. Malara
Tony started his broadcast career at WWNY
in 1957 and was recruited to CBS Television in 1978 where he became the network vice president responsible for CBS affiliates. In 1981 he was promoted to vice president and general manager of CBS Television, and in 1982 president of the tv network. Tony also served as president of the New York State Broadcasters Association
for over thirty 30 years.
He retired from CBS Television in 1995 and created TCM Media Associates then Malara Broadcasting.
Tony Malara died at age 69 in August 2006 at Crouse Hospital
, Syracuse after having a heart attack and then being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Anthony Malara was known as a humanitarian and was well-liked in the community and the larger broadcast community also.
