Jefferson County has many rivers, creeks, ponds, and lakes that are perfect for paddling of all types. Some of the rivers are navigable for many miles and some of the carious water systems are connected, making longer and interesting routes possible. Several streams and rivers are too small for larger boats and many smaller lakes have a limitation on motor size which makes for calmer and safer paddling, whole for those who want more challenge there is the St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario, as well as some white water areas like the rapids of the Black River.
