+ | The Carter Street Schoolhouse sits at the junction of Vaadi Road and Dog Hill Road, Town of Orleans. The architectural style is mid-19th Century Revival, stone, and built in the early 1850's. The structure operated as a school until the 1930's, when the building was abandoned. Despite it's abandonment, the building's remarkable stonework has allowed the structure to remain standing to the present day.\\ \\ The school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.\\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ (Photo courtesy of Old Abandoned Buildings of Northern NY)\\ \\ | ||
