 +The Babcock House is a colonial style home that stands on [[Washington_Street|Washington Street]] in [[Watertown|Watertown]]. The home has had numerous owners in its long history, but is best remembered as the home of carriage manufacturer [[Henry_H_Babcock_The_Babcock_Company|Henry H. Babcock]].\\ \\  The home was built c.1820. It was at one time the home to Judge Egbert Ten Eyck, one of Watertown’s leading early citizens. After many years in the possession of the Joseph Mullin family, the house passed to the Babcock family in the 1880’s.\\ \\  During much of the 20th century, the structure was owned by a Methodist society, and was used as an office building and conference center. The house today is home to the Rose and Kiernan Insurance Company.\\ \\ \\
